Today Beatson Cancer Charity launched its annual Christmas Bauble Appeal with the support of a few familiar faces.
TV and Wrestling star Grado, Scottish actors Jane McCarry and Gary Hollywood and Clyde Radio Presenter Gina McKie all came together to hang their Beatson bauble and show their support for the charity.
Each has their own reason for hanging a bauble this Christmas and they are encouraging everyone else who has been touched in some way by The Beatson or the charity to get involved and say thanks, while helping to support more people facing cancer this Christmas.
Grado said: “I’m supporting the Bauble appeal because The Beatson helped my mum and our family when we needed it. Beatson Cancer Charity’s Wellbeing Centre was also a place where my mum could meet other people going through the same thing. It was a really big help and support to her.”
Jane said: “I’m hanging my Beatson bauble to say thank you to everyone at The Beatson. Please support the bauble appeal.”
Gary said: “I went through my own cancer scare, so this appeal is very personal for me. I want to thank The Beatson for all they do – it's a very special place.”
Gina said: “I’m supporting the Bauble appeal to help keep memories alive of the loved ones we’ve lost. The festive period can be a very difficult time for people facing cancer so let’s all show our support.”
The Beatson Bauble appeal is an opportunity for anyone who has been touched by The Beatson or the charity to say thanks and help raise funds to allow the live-saving and pioneering work to continue.
Martin Cawley, Beatson Cancer Charity’s Chief Executive, said:
“For lots of people Christmas is a special happy time of year, but it can also be a difficult one.
“I’m sure everyone will have their own reason to hang their bauble on their tree – maybe in memory of someone or as a thank you to The Beatson for caring for a friend or relative.
“Whatever the reason, all your support and donations will help us continue to deliver the unique care and services we offer at The Beatson and across the west of Scotland over Christmas and beyond.
