The donation will help Beatson Cancer Charity continue to provide vital care and support to cancer patients and their families across the west of Scotland.
The charity holds particular significant for the Anniesland restaurant team, with several employees being touched or affected by cancer or been supported by Beatson Cancer Charity.
Among them was 34-year-old, Kieran Duggan, who was diagnosed with germ cell cancer four years ago.
Kieran who has worked at McDonald's for 12 years, received treatment at The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and accessed support from Beatson Cancer Charity's Wellbeing Centre during his treatment.
He said: “When I heard we were donating £5,000 to Beatson Cancer Charity, I was really happy because I know first-hand how much they do for people going through cancer. It is a charity that has helped me and so many others.”
Kieran’s colleague, Ian Harper, aged 44, was also diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2020 after initially seeking medical advice for ongoing pain following a cycling accident.
Ian, who has worked in McDonald’s for 23 years, received treatment at The Beatson as well.
He said: “The staff who looked after me were fantastic. They explained everything clearly and helped me understand what was happening throughout my treatment.
“It means a lot knowing this donation will help other people receive the same level of care and support that I did.”

To celebrate the donation, Beatson Cancer Charity mascot Bella Bee visited the Anniesland restaurant to accept the cheque from the team.
Peter Burgess, Business Manager at McDonald’s Anniesland, said: McDonald's Anniesland, said: "We're incredibly proud to support Beatson Cancer Charity through the McDonald's in the Community Foundation.

"The charity means a great deal to our team, with several colleagues having experienced the incredible care and support available at The Beatson. Supporting a cause that has had such a personal impact on our staff makes this donation especially meaningful."
