The event will be led by internationally recognised yoga instructor Finlay Wilson, aka The Kilted Yogi, and hosted by Jenny Powell, one of the UK’s best-known radio and television presenters. Tickets will be priced at £35, and funds raised will go to support the Beatson Cancer Charity’s Wellbeing Centre, which provides vital emotional and practical support for people affected by cancer across Scotland. The session will be accessible to those of all levels and abilities, and for the entry fee participants will receive a Yellow Yogi mat, entry to the one-hour class as well as well as other activities to be announced all ensuring an event filled with fun, camaraderie and mindfulness.
The aim is to raise £250,000 for Beatson Cancer Charity with proceeds going directly to the Wellbeing Centre, a calm space within The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre where patients and families can relax, socialise, and access supportive activities during their treatment. The centre features comfortable lounges, activities, and support services designed to enhance patient wellbeing away from clinical areas.
Mike Smith, Beatson Cancer Charity Business Ambassador and Founder of Yellow Yogis said: “The idea came to me about 18 months ago. I wanted to create something that could make a genuinely big difference, and the vision was simple: bring people together for one of the largest indoor yoga sessions in the UK. Once we began sharing the idea, everything came together. Of course, I have to say thanks for the incredible support of all our sponsors and the team at Beatson too.”
The yoga session will be led by Finlay Wilson, widely known as The Kilted Yogi, whose approach blends expert instruction with humour and accessibility. A senior Yoga Alliance teacher and author, Finlay has built an international following by making yoga welcoming to people who may never have tried it before.
Finlay Wilson, The Kilted Yogi, said: “My mission is to break down barriers to starting or attending Yoga sessions. Whether it is by offering variations for all abilities, supporting different financial realities, or simply by cracking a joke when the going gets tough, I aim to create a space where everyone will get something out of the class and move in a way they haven’t moved before.”
He will be supported by presenter Jenny Powell who rose to prominence on No Limits before going on to present a wide range of popular television programmes, including Wheel of Fortune, UP2U, Gimme 5, Live Talk, Wordplay, and Daybreak. She will host the event on the day, guiding audiences through the programme and supporting the overall atmosphere of warmth, positivity, and community.
Mike Smith continued: “I’ve practised yoga for years and have seen how powerful it can be for both mental and physical wellbeing. That balance fits in with the vital work carried out in the Beatson’s Wellbeing Centre.”
