Beatson Cancer Charity is thrilled to announce that our Ambassadog, Baxter, will be taking part in this year’s Santa Dash on Sunday 7th December – joined by his owners, Natalie and Ross Bytheway, who say the occasion marks a hugely meaningful moment for their family.

The festive 5K event will take place at Glasgow Green, sponsored by GAP Group Hire Solutions, bringing supporters, families and festive fundraisers together to help raise `money for patients and families affected by cancer across the west of Scotland. Baxter, crowned Ambassadog for 2025/26 after a record-breaking public vote, will proudly don his Beatson tartan and a festive outfit as he joins participants and fellow dogs for one of the charity’s most festive events.

Baxter’s owners, Natalie and Ross, from Paisley, share a strong personal connection with Beatson Cancer Charity. Ross received treatment at The Beatson just last year, following both Natalie’s father and Ross’s mother having previously received care there. Throughout Ross’s treatment and recovery, Baxter provided comfort, routine and companionship that helped carry the family through challenging times.

Ahead of the event, Natalie and Ross said:

“Beatson Cancer Charity holds a truly special place in our hearts. As many know, Ross was a patient there just last year, and we witnessed first-hand the incredible, compassionate support they provide to families. To now be here with Ross, and with our Ambassadog Baxter leading the way, supporting the Santa Dash feels like a huge moment for us. This event is a brilliant way for the community to show up for an amazing charity, and we can't wait to see everyone in their Santa red on December 7th!”

Maisie McCormick, Community Fundraising Manager at Beatson Cancer Charity, said:

“We’re delighted to have Baxter and the Bytheway family joining us for Santa Dash 2025. Baxter has quickly become a wonderful representative for the charity and seeing him take part with supporters on the day will be a real highlight. Events like the Santa Dash help bring people together to support those affected by cancer, and the enthusiasm from the pupils and staff is incredible. We’re so grateful for their support.”
