The school launched its involvement earlier today and has already seen over 50 pupils sign up within hours, with many more expected to join once the festive activity is rolled out across the full school.
Three senior pupils helping to lead the school’s participation expressed their excitement about supporting the charity:
Kyle Crawford, 17: “It is an honour for the whole school to be in partnership with Beatson Cancer Charity. It’s a really good thing for us this year, with many more years to come.”
Rachel Montgomery, 17: “There is going to be a bit of competition when we do the Santa Dash to see who comes first, but at the end of the day it is all for a good cause.”
Kirsty McKie, 16: “The comfort the charity brings to so many is just amazing for people going through a diagnosis.”
Alongside the dash itself, pupils are preparing additional festive fundraising ideas, including themed days, bake sales and sponsored activities, with enthusiasm already building throughout the school.

Claire Morgan, Deputy Head Teacher at Boclair Academy, said:
“It means an awful lot for us as a school community. Many of our young people and staff have been affected by cancer in some way, so taking part in something as fun and uplifting as the Santa Dash is a brilliant way to raise awareness as well as funds.”
Claire also explained that the school’s captains are preparing extra fundraising ideas in the lead-up to the event:
“The team has lots of ideas like bake sales and sponsored activities. They’re excited to get creative and support a charity that means so much to us.”
She added:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Beatson Cancer Charity for this opportunity. It’s a wonderful partnership and a lovely legacy for our pupils to know they’ve helped start something special.”
Maisie McCormick, Community Fundraising Manager at Beatson Cancer Charity, said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Boclair Academy joining our Santa Dash this year. Seeing so many young people come together with such enthusiasm and with so much festive spirit.”
“Their energy, kindness and creativity will make a real difference, and we can’t wait to see the sea of yellow Santas from Boclair Academy lighting up Glasgow Green. We’re so grateful for their support and are excited to continue to work alongside them.”
