Nick Boyle

Nick Boyle, (49) will take part in his Golfathon from 13-17 July at Kingsfield Golf Centre, set in beautiful West Lothian. It shall involve a staggering 26 rounds of golf across 5 days.

94 holes per day, every day, for 5 days!  Nick is a Sales Director at Jewson Civil Frazer and hopes to raise over £5,000 for Beatson Cancer Charity.

Nick is completing this challenge in honour of Eric McMurray who received life-saving treatment at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in 2019.  Unfortunately Eric’s cancer returned this year and he sadly passed away in the height of lockdown.

His mind is set to accomplish the 468 holes, which is approximately 63,360 steps equating to 30 miles per day.  “The Arkley family who own and run Kingsfield golf course have been fantastic and I can’t thank them enough for helping me give this challenge a go-ahead.”

He added, “I’ve lined up some radio coverage and some ex-sporting celebrities to support me including my cousin Stephen Gallacher and Darren Gough.  I am hoping this encouragement will help me smash by target.

Nick is taking it to the next level by setting up a tent on the course and carrying around his own bag but would like some company around the course.  He said, “I’m hoping for the occasional visitor to pop by and maybe help to carry my bag to keep my spirits up.”

Beatson Cancer Charity will be following and reporting on Nick’s progress throughout the week.  Follow the charity’s Facebook page.

So far we’ve reached the £4,000 mark but hope to get to double our target and donate the total to Beatson Cancer Charity to go towards helping other patients facing cancer.”

Charlene Low, Beatson Cancer Charity’s Community Fundraising Manager, said: “This is a very ambitious and exciting challenge, and I’m sure Nick will complete it no problem. Let’s help them reach their target, which will go towards supporting people affected by cancer and those close to them.”
