"Thank you to all the friends, families and colleagues who came out yesterday morning to wish the team all the best."

And they're off...!!! A huge good luck to all our fantastic cyclists taking part in this year's Aim for the Skye! We couldn't be more proud of them all, and we're so grateful for their continued support!

Thank you to all the friends, families and colleagues who came out yesterday morning to wish the team all the best.

We'll be keeping you updated with all the latest from the challenge over the next few days. If you'd like to take part next year, why not register your interest by emailing events@beatsoncancercharity.org

Our fundraiser William, who is also taking part in challenge has sent us his first diary entry of the journey:

Thursday saw myself and our 11 Aim For the Skye participants set off on our epic cycle to Skye.

We received an overwhelmingly amazing #teambeatson set off from The Beatson which set us up for the 75 mile cycle that the day had in store for us. However, before we even left Glasgow we had our first accident of the trip. I spectacularly forgot to unclip my

cycling cleats resulting in me ending up sprawled in the middle of the road at Morrisons in Anniesland. Onwards and upwards though as we made our way to our lunch stop at Inverbeg. On the way we were treated to the stunning views of Balloch and Loch

Lomond. Unfortunately the unpredictable Scottish weather wasn't on our side as we were treated to some unforgiving wind and rain.

We arrived soaked to the skin but with smiles on our faces at Inverbeg for a hearty bowl of soup. After lunch we had the hardest part of the trip ahead of us...the hills of Glencoe. Cycling on the road through Crianlarich we made good time and were soon treated to some breathtaking views. The views were truly breathtaking and made the tough climbs completely worth it.

The hills of Glencoe were pretty hard going but we made it up and over them together. The sight of our hotel as we did one last climb was a huge relief.

Day one was an incredible experience and a great team effort. Today we set off for Spean Bridge and some more incredible cycling.
