Radiotherapy Research Appeal

Summer Appeal 2025 Header

By donating today as part of our 2025 Summer Appeal *LINK HERE*, you can help the researchers monitor cancer like never before, allowing them to observe tumours at a very early stage in treatment. This means they have time to change the treatment if they are not seeing the expected results, which could not only make the treatment more effective for patients, but it could be lifesaving.

Radiotherapy is one of the most effective cancer treatments - and after the success of the 2023 research, the researchers are aiming to make it even more precise, effective, and tailored to each patient’s needs. The research focuses on:

  • Increasing accuracy so radiation targets cancer cells more precisely.
  • Reducing side effects to protect healthy tissue.
  • Personalising treatment so it can be adapted daily for each patient.

Why We’re Taking Action

Some cancers, like brain, pancreatic and rectal tumours, are still incredibly difficult to treat. Patients urgently need breakthroughs. The research aims to deliver:

  • New ways to monitor tumours during treatment.
  • The ability to change treatment early if it’s not working.
  • Clinical trials that give patients access to the latest innovations before they’re widely available.

Meet the Researchers

Behind every breakthrough is a dedicated team. The researchers are working to make radiotherapy more effective for patients. Here are three of the people helping drive change at The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre:

How Your Gift Helps

Every donation helps us:

  • Recruit and train specialist research staff.
  • Fund life-saving clinical trials.
  • Develop new treatment methods that improve survival rates.

Just £25 could help fund pioneering radiotherapy research for people with hard-to-treat cancers.

Be part of the breakthrough. Support our Radiotherapy Research Appeal today and help give people with cancer more time, more hope and a better quality of life. (ADD DONATE LINK)
