Beatson Cancer Charity organises a number of events through the year which couldn't take place without the help of enthusiastic and helpful volunteers.
Please see below for details of the volunteering opportunities we have available:
Thornhill 10K - Round the Frews (Sunday 11th May 2025)
The Thornhill 10K was created in honour of Steven Black, who passed away in 2020 aged 54. Steven’s close friend, Neil started a challenge where he ran 10K every day for one year to fundraise for Beatson Cancer Charity.
He completed the challenge in April 2021 and raised over £11,000. Following Neil’s success, Steven and Neil’s families teamed up with Tay Fitness Events to create the Thornhill 10K – Round the Frews.
The event is returning on Sunday 11th May 2025 to continue the celebration of Steven’s life five years after he passed away. This is a brilliant community event to be part of as it is very family friendly and great fun, if you'd like to sign up click here.
We are looking for volunteers from 10.00am - 2.00pm to help with a Beatson bucket collection outside the village hall. We will also be cheering on all the runners in true Team Beatson style. We are delighted that wonderful BeatSing choir and the mighty SingAloud team will be joining Team Beatson for the day!
If you would like to volunteer, please do get in touch by contacting volunteer@beatsoncancercharity.org
Tasks could include making up goodie bags or producing signage in our office in the preparation stages or distributing promotional flyers and leaflets in your local area. On the day, roles will vary with each event, but could involve selling raffle tickets, holding a collection bucket, registering participants or manning a cheer station.
We have a number of brilliant annual events like our Ladies Lunch, Sporting Dinner and Off The Beatson Track as well as a wide range of events every month. They are all really good fun and we are sure we have something to suit everyone.
The time commitment varies for each event. Event preparation activities are usually during office hours, but events can take place on weekdays, evenings and weekends. You can sign up to any event that suits you.
Our events are also a great way for teams of volunteers from local businesses to show their support for Beatson Cancer Charity.
