"Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Dorothy, Derek and Donnie into our fundraising hub"

Please join us in saying a massive #teambeatson thank you to the MacMillan family. Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Dorothy, Derek and Donnie into our fundraising hub for a chat and to personally thank them for their recent outstanding fundraising efforts. Dorothy is currently attending the Beatson after being diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer in January 2010.

Due to the many side effects of her medication, Dorothy retired due to ill health and her husband Donnie also took early retirement from Scottish Gas where he had worked for over 39 years, enabling them to spend precious time together.Donnie and son Derek decided they’d do something special to raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity, as a thank you for the fantastic treatment and support Dorothy has received from the Beatson in recent years.

They arranged a bungee jump from the titan crane on 16th August 2014 which, through JustGiving and many cash donations, raised a fantastic £3,045.

Derek has been an Edrington employee since February 2014 and the company, along with The Robertson Trust, offered to double-match any funds raised by the brave duo! We were absolutely blown away to learn that £9,125 was being donated to Beatson Cancer Charity.

We really cannot thank The Robertson Trust, Edrington, the MacMillan family and everyone who so kindly sponsored Donny and Derek enough. Every single donation contributed to this fantastic total, and this money will go such a long way in supporting so many patients and families who visit the Beatson each year.
