We are delighted to share some fantastic news with you all - Beatson Cancer Charity has been chosen as Bishopbriggs Academy’s Charity of the Year for 2014/15!

The Captaincy Team is made up of eight sixth year pupils who are the driving force behind the school’s fundraising this year. David, Sarah, Logan, Rachel, Millie, Jack, Caitlin and Jacob have put their heads together to come up with a unique calendar of events for the coming year, ensuring there is something for everyone.

The pupils were delighted to be given the opportunity to visit the wellbeing centre earlier this month, learning about the services available to patients and their families who visit the Beatson every single year.

Bishopbriggs Academy has also supported Beatson Cancer Charity in the past through YPI - a one-of-a-kind experience that engages young people in social change, supporting charities along the way. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with the pupils and staff at the school, once again, through this new partnership.

Former Bishopbriggs Academy pupil, Amy Quinn, was a patient at the Beatson a few years ago and is delighted to hear this exciting news. She assisted our fundraising team who recently presented to the school, telling pupils a little more about the work of Beatson Cancer Charity and unveiling some of the plans in place for the year!

The school is off to a flying start, having already raised more than £1,000 through the ice bucket challenge and various other events.

Huge #teambeatson thank you in advance to all staff and pupils at Bishopbriggs Academy. We look forward to working with you over the coming year.
