Beatson Cancer Charity are delighted to announce their new Paw Walk, aimed at dog owners who want to keep active with their canine friends but with the added appeal of raising money to help patients currently facing cancer.

We know, Scotland is a nation of dog lovers, so to show support for National Dog Week, Beatson Cancer Charity are hosting a week-long event. Taking place on the last full week of September, on 21-27 September, the week will celebrate the wonderful 4-legged supporters - honouring their loyalty and companionship!

The charity is encouraging everyone to take on a sponsored Paw Walk. £6 entry will include a branded pet bandana. Owners are advised to be quick to book a place as the first 50 sign-ups will receive a goodie bag courtesy of pet retailer and supplier, Creature Comforts.

The charity will also be on the lookout for their next official Beatson Ambassadog. Over the years many supporters have used their pets at fundraising activities and many patients have expressed their love for their pet during their treatment struggles and how a pet can aid their health and wellbeing during their cancer journey. For this event, supporters are asked to tag their favourite photos of their pet out and about, dressed in official Beatson Cancer Charity apparel.

For dogs to look their best, the new range of Beatson tartan is now available and it includes items for dogs. A perfect gift for all dog owners. Dog collars and leads are made from local supplier, Paisley Textiles and are available to purchase from our online shop here.

Charlene Low, Corporate Partnership Fundraiser is very excited about this event, saying, “Since we had to cancel many of our events due to COVID-19, we wanted to find a fun way to fundraise whilst respecting the social distancing arrangements.

Daily walks with my Beagle, Ditsy, has been hugely beneficial for me during lockdown and I know many of our patients feel the same especially during treatment. We are all thrilled with our new dog tartan items so we think the Paw Walk is the perfect event and will be very popular raising much needed funds for our charity. Our supporters go above and beyond for us – can't wait to see the photos of them out and about in yellow.”

Tickets are priced at £6 and shall support the charity with continued services to patients and their families on their cancer journey. The charity is currently running a Befriending Service for in-patients and for those returning home after treatment.
