Beatson Cancer Charity is encouraging people to share positive thoughts of Hope, Celebration, Thanks and Remembrance whilst making an online donation.

Everyone is invited to dedicate and hang a bauble and to help more cancer patients and their families across the West of Scotland and beyond. Scottish stars and business ambassadors are out in force to help raise vital funds for patients and families affected by cancer in Scotland this Christmas.

Scottish actor, Gray O’Brien is passionate about the charity following his treatment for stage 4 tonsil cancer, said:

“It is a real honour helping Beatson Cancer Charity this year.  It’s something which is close to my heart.  The Beatson hospital do incredible work and we need to make sure the charity can help fund the services and continue with advanced research.”

Martin Cawley, CEO from Beatson Cancer Charity is delighted to have support from Gray O’Brien with his video message Actor Gray O'Brien Is Supporting This Years Beatson Bauble Appeal

Gray has been only too happy to help where he can with our fundraising efforts, with promoting the work of the charity or simply by showing empathy to others going through their own cancer journey. We really appreciate everything Gray is doing and we look forward to working with him next year.

Martin Cawley, CEO

Mr Cawley reminds everyone that this season is particularly hard for some families.  He explains:

“With families unable to visit due to tighter covid-19 restrictions we are trying to help everyone with access to our services to patients.  Our appeal is a reminder to think of others and a small donation to a local charity makes the difference to many.”

He added: “Christmas is a time of year where family is front of mind, and while we take a moment to remember those who are no longer with us, we want to raise as much money as we can to fund research and continue delivering the unique care and support offered at centres across the west of Scotland. We’re asking everyone who has been touched in some way by the Beatson care to get involved.”

Sisters and supporters, Stephanie and Kristina, who star in our short film for the Beatson Bauble Appeal 2020 - Celebrate, Thank, Remember And Give Hope said:

"Beatson Cancer Charity does incredible work to help supporting patients and their loved ones at the Beatson Cancer Centre. We're backing the Beatson Bauble Appeal as we sadly lost our mum this year and we wanted to do something positive this year on our first Christmas without her here."

Karen Nugent, Head of Individual Giving and Supporter Care said:

We’re so excited to bring our bauble appeal to life, which has evolved since 2014 but this year is even more important to us and ultimately the survival of our services. Thank you to all our supporters who have stuck with us in a year most will want to forget.
