Beatson Cancer Charity and Scotland’s oldest association football club Queen’s Park have announced their charity partnership for 2019/2020.

This was launched at the club’s Hampden ground on Tuesday with manager Mark Roberts, the team, Queen’s Park mascot Webster and Beatson Cancer Charity Mascot Bella.

The partnership will involve staff and players at the club taking part in a whole range of fundraising activities throughout the year, in support of patients and families facing cancer across the west of Scotland.

Mark Roberts, Queen’s Park’s Manager, said: “Everyone at the club is delighted to be supporting such a well-known and much-loved charity.

“Cancer affects so many lives and so many of us know someone who has been touched by it. We’re looking forward to working with Beatson Cancer Charity and trying to raise as much money as we can this year for patients and families, while also raising awareness of the fantastic work the charity does.”

“Football is a huge part of our culture here in Glasgow and it can bring people together at difficult times. There’s so much we can do to support Beatson Cancer Charity and we are very much looking forward to getting started.”

Gerry Crawley, Queen’s Park President

Morag Cunningham, Beatson Cancer Charity’s Director of Fundraising, said: “We are honoured to be chosen as Queen’s Parks charity partner for the year and we look forward to working with the club and its supporters.

“Thanks to the incredible support from our corporate and community partners, like Queen’s Park, Beatson Cancer Charity can continue to make a significant and positive difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.”

Beatson Cancer Charity’s message to everyone affected by cancer is clear, ‘We’re with you.’ People are at the heart of everything we do. From providing wellbeing and patient care services to funding pioneering research and specialist clinical posts, we support cancer patients across the west of Scotland and beyond.
