#‎offthebeatsontrack is less than week away! We hope the excitement is building, your outfits are coming along and friends, family and colleagues are getting behind your sponsorship efforts.

We want to introduce you to one of our participants and Beatson Patient, Jen Bremner pictured with husband Brem and their two children, Kyle and Evie.

Jen from Netherlee, near Glasgow was first diagnosed with a very rare cancer (Leiomyosarcoma) in May 2014, just a week after an operation to remove a fibroid in her Uterus. This type of cancer currently affects less than three hundred women in the whole of the UK. Since her diagnosis Jen is now being treated for secondary cancer in her lungs and pelvis.Jen first visited the Beatson on 28th July this year.

She was overwhelmed by the atmosphere and support that was available to both staff and patients at the hospital. After hearing about Off the Beatson Track, Jen decided to get all of her friends together and enter a team in the event: Team H.O.P.E.

Throughout Jen’s treatment she has communicated her progress through a facebook group called “On the QT”. It was here that the sentiment of the word hope became a mantra for Jen and her loved ones.

Talking about her team, Jen says “Team H.O.P.E. is comprised of family, friends and colleagues and I feel very blessed to have their amazing support and love each and every day.

Their fundraising contributions to Beatson Cancer Charity through Just Giving has been overwhelming and has far exceeded my initial target of £500!! We’re now sitting at around seventy team members”.

Within Jen’s team are two friends who will be taking Off the Beatson Track to the streets of London and walking their 6.5 miles at the same time as our event in Glasgow. Just incredible!

So many of you have already set up teams, encouraged friends, family members and colleagues to take part in Off the Beatson Track.

Your support means that we can continue to enhance the treatment, outcome and experience for so many patients like Jen and their families. Thank you and keep going with your sponsorship.

By taking part and raising funds, you can make a huge difference to the 8,000 new patients receiving treatment at the Beatson each year.
