The annual Team Beatson cycling trip to Millport took place over the weekend with 35 cyclists in total descending on the island. Everyone did a fantastic job completing the full cicuit of the island despite the rain! Family-run business, Mapes, generously supplied the bicycles and the cost of the hire was very kindly donated by our very own Centre Co-ordinator, Rhona Scally's mum, Maria Kelly, who organises the bicycles each year for the charity.Entertainment was aplenty provided by Millport native Rhona who provided comical commentary of the local sights and history of the island - from her expansive knowledge growing up there. One of the charity's centre volunteers, Betty, brought her family along on the day who are from Tanzania and Kenya - they thoroughly enjoyed the day exploring more of bonnie Scotland. The total raised is yet to be announced but the team all hope to raise lots of money for the Beatson. We'd like to say a HUGE Team Beatson thank you to everyone who donned their cycling shorts and pedalled around the island. A very special thank you goes to Rhona Scally for organising the whole day and of course to Maria Kelly for kindly donating all the bicycles and gear.If you would like to do something similar for the Beatson, or maybe you've got a unique fundraising idea - why not get in touch with us and we can support you with whatever advice and fundraising materials you may need!
