Margaret Boreland raises £4,500 from headshave

24th Mar 2014

Our hair can be a big part of our own image, but when Margaret Boreland’s friend and fellow Carmyle Bowling Club member was diagnosed with cancer and lost her hair, she decided to take on a daring challenge of shaving her head to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Margaret is an active member of the community and already does a huge amount to help and support her fellow residents. The head shave was inspired by hearing about the incredible support and care that her friend has been receiving whilst going through treatment at the Beatson. The tight-knit and generous community of Carmyle turned out in force for Margaret's Headshave to get behind here efforts. Fundraising Manager, Siobhán O’Hara was delighted to receive a cheque for an incredible £4,500 at the club on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who came along to support and to Margaret for going through the chop to support Beatson Cancer Charity. Next on Margaret’s fundraising agenda is a skydive. There is no stopping her!The simple fact is that we rely on people like Margaret and the support of our local communities to continue our vital work.
