Killin Rocks music festival set to raise funds for the Beatson

27th Aug 2014

We would like to tell you about an exciting event Killin Rocks taking place on August 30th in KIllin. The little village will transform into a mini music festival over the weekend and this year's event will have three stages filled with brand new unsigned bands and artists.Killin Rocks idea originally came from Tam Weir, who at the time had just been diagnosed with lung cancer. Tam was a massive music lover and wanted to have lots of musical acts come to the quiet village of Killin. Sadly Tam lost his fight with the disease at the end of September 2013.In memory of him, his son Tommy Weir, a musician, decided to go ahead and organise the music festival. The last two years they have risen over £10,000 for cancer charities and this year have nominated to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Tommy said:“Me and my Mum, Jeanette Weir were at the Civic Reception in March at the City Chambers and left feeling that we should again donate to your charity as its work is unparalleled. The care my Dad received at the Beatson was first class, not one complaint from him and that's saying something.”We truly appreciate Tommy choosing to fundraise for us and we wish him the best of luck for the event. If you are in the Stirlingshire area on the 30th August why not swing by for what should be a fantastic day with some great music! You can find out more about KillinRocks in link below:https://www.facebook.com/killinrocks
