Stuart Whitelaw has joined Beatson Cancer Charity supporters to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary by sharing his reasons to “heart the Beatson”.
On the 4th January 2013, Stuart went through four months of gruelling chemo at The Beatson – the toughest time of his life. Stuart went to see Beatson Cancer Charity funded Clinical Nurse Specialist Nicola for the results of his CT scan.
He said: “I’ll never forget her words; ‘it’s all gone’. It was best news I’d ever heard in my life. Those three simple words meant I didn’t have to think about cancer every waking second. Those three words meant I could live again.”
Since beating the disease Stuart has gone on to live life to the fullest. In June last year he got married to his partner Gillian at Cornhill House and then spent his lovely honeymoon in Italy where they went to Venice, Florence, Sorrento and Rome.
Stuart has continued to support Beatson Cancer Charity as much as possible getting involved in the #teambeatson spirit. He attended our Sporting Dinner and took part in Great Scottish Run.
Everyone at Beatson Cancer Charity is so happy to see Stuart doing so well, but he knows too well that The Beatson still needs vital support today. He added: “We’re very lucky to have such a world-leading cancer centre in the heart of Glasgow. From Clinical Nurse Specialists, to all the very best cancer treatments and wellbeing services, a lot of what makes The Beatson so special is funded by Beatson Cancer Charity, so please donate or show your support today.”
You can donate today by texting ‘HEART’ to 70500 to make a £3 donation that will directly help cancer patients.
There are plenty of other ways you can get involved to help The Beatson by volunteering, fundraising or by simply inspiring others by sharing your story. We want to engage with all our supporters on social media for this milestone and celebration. Please share with us and the wider world “Why do you heart The Beatson?” on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Use the hashtag #IHeartTheBeatson to share your messages.
