Consultant in Medical Oncology, Dr Hilary Glen has embarked on a truly amazing fundraising challenge for the Beatson – a whole year of running events!Dr Glen, a self-confessed easy-going runner, started her challenge at the beginning of May and since then has completed the Tiree half marathon (not as flat as you’d think!), the Great Bupa Women’s 10K (just one week later!), a relay in the Edinburgh Marathon and the Tough Mudder, a 12 mile muddy extreme obstacle course (yes, it’s as hard as it looks!)She is now gearing up to take part in the Ballater 10 mile race in July, the Mull half marathon in August, the Great North Run in September, the Glasgow half marathon in October and the rest of the year is still to be decided - we’re just tired out reading all of that!Dr Glen decided to go on this epic running journey because she wanted to get fit and reach a stage where she could finish a whole marathon which is the end goal of her challenge – to complete the Edinburgh Marathon all the way, next May.Dr Glen was keen that if she was going to do all of this training and running that she would do it for charity and she has chosen to support the Beatson Cancer Charity which we are so grateful for!She has already raised a fantastic £1, 500 with the amount increasing daily. Dr Glen said: “Since I started training in Oncology in 2000, the changes in treatment, drugs, and research is phenomenal. Most of my work is in clinical trials and the difference these can make to people is incredible.“I think it is important for my patients to see where the money is going and that is why I support the Beatson Cancer Charity.”We wish Dr Glen all the best with her running challenge which she has been enjoying with friends and her family – husband Paul and her children Jamie (9) and Holly (7).If you would like to support Dr Glen – it’s so easy!
