Beatson Cancer Charity has appointed The Rt, Hon. the Lord Provost Eva Bolander as their first President.
The announcement was made at a civic reception on Thursday 21 March hosted by the Lord Provost, honouring the charity’s volunteers, and other supporters, for their hard work over the last five years.
The Lord Provost said:
“I’m honoured to have been asked to become the Beatson Cancer Charity’s first President and look forward to learning more about their important work and assisting them in any way I can.”
Beatson Cancer Charity interim CEO, Alison McGregor said:
“We are so pleased to welcome the Lord Provost to our charity and are honoured that the Lord Provost has accepted the role of President. We support people and families affected by cancer and look forward to showing her the work we do.
“Working alongside our NHS partners we strive to support the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. We are proud to serve the hospital, its staff and the people of Glasgow and beyond.”
This year marks five years since Beatson Cancer Charity launched following the merger of Friends of the Beatson and The Beatson Oncology Centre Fund. Co-founders Alan Kilpatrick BEM, Dr Gerry Robertson and Ian Dickson BEM were also in attendance for the civic celebrations.
Beatson Cancer Charity supports people affected by cancer, making the journey easier by transforming the way cancer care is funded and delivered.
